Love brings a couple together, and the stories are mostly beautiful. However, loyalty keeps you two together. Here are 20 nuggests for Loyalty in marriage.

WHAT LOYALTY REALLY IS

 1. Love is a feeling, loyalty is a decision. Love may come and go with emotions, but loyalty says "I will stand by you even when the feeling is low."

 2. Loyalty is not just about not sleeping with someone else — it is about not entertaining anyone who wants to take the place of your spouse.

 3. Proverbs 5:18-19, Malachi 2:15 — God calls you to rejoice in the wife of your youth and to guard yourself in your spirit. Loyalty starts from the spirit before it shows in the body.

 4. A loyal spouse is loyal in 4 places: in their heart, with their eyes, with their phone, and in public.

LOYALTY IN THE HEART & EYES

 5. Loyalty says "My eyes are married too." Job 31:1 — "I made a covenant with my eyes." A disloyal heart always starts with a wandering eye.

 6. Don't compare your spouse with someone else and make them look smaller. Comparison is the first seed of disloyalty. Celebrate what you have, don't fantasize about what you don't have.

 7. Loyalty protects your thoughts. The moment you start telling yourself "I deserve better, I married wrong," you have become disloyal in your mind before your body follows.

LOYALTY WITH YOUR PHONE & PRIVATE LIFE

 8. If you must hide your chats, delete your messages, or put a password to hide things from your spouse, you have already broken loyalty.

 9. Loyalty does not entertain "just friends" who are actually enemies of your marriage. Any friendship that must hide to survive is not friendship — it is a trap.

10. A loyal spouse closes doors that temptations use. Don't say "I am strong" — say "I am wise, I will not go there." Joseph didn't negotiate with temptation, he ran — Genesis 39:12.

LOYALTY IN PUBLIC

11. Loyalty stands up for your spouse when they are not there. When someone insults your wife or disrespects your husband in your presence, a loyal spouse defends.

12. Don't join your family to fight your spouse. Don't join your friends to laugh at your spouse. Your family may leave, your friends may leave, but your spouse is your covenant.

13. Proverbs 31:11 — "Her husband has full confidence in her." Can your spouse confidently leave you anywhere, with anyone, with their phone, with their money, and know you will remain loyal?

14. Loyalty is not proven when everything is good. It is proven when your spouse is broke, sick, fails, or makes a mistake. Anyone can be loyal in good times — true loyalty stands in bad times.

LOYALTY IN HARD TIMES

15. Don't threaten divorce every time there is a quarrel. Loyal spouses fight FOR the marriage, not AGAINST the marriage.

16. Don't keep an "escape plan" while you are still married — a separate secret account to run to, a man you are grooming as backup, a woman you are keeping as option B. That is not wisdom, that is wickedness.

17. Loyalty says "We will fix this together." Disloyalty says "Let me find someone who understands me better." There is no better understanding outside, there is only deception.

THE REWARD OF LOYALTY

18. Loyalty brings trust. And trust brings peace. When loyalty is there, your spouse sleeps peacefully, not with one eye open.

19. Your children are watching. The greatest gift you give them is not just that Mum and Dad love each other, but that Mum and Dad are LOYAL to each other. It gives them security.

20. God blesses loyalty. Psalm 101:6 — "My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me." Faithful people attract God's eye.

Final Nugget:

A beautiful spouse can attract many eyes, a rich spouse can attract many hands, but only a LOYAL spouse can give you peace of mind.

In marriage, don't just look for love — look for loyalty. And don't just expect loyalty — GIVE loyalty.

Love says "I am with you." Loyalty says "I will never leave you — no matter what."
